Chargers waive 10, Gross on IR
Monday, Aug 27, 2007
By Casey Pearce, Chargers.com
NFL rosters must be trimmed to 75 players by Tuesday afternoon, and the Chargers approached that number Monday by releasing 10 players and placing running back Tyronne Gross on “Reserve-Injured.” The team has to release one additional player by 1 pm tomorrow.
Those asked to turn in their playbooks Monday morning included cornerback Quinton Jones, safety Miguel Merrick, linebacker Zach Latimer, offensive tackle Mike Jones, guard Jeremy Sheffey, quarterback Brett Elliott, tight end T.J. Cottrell and wide receivers Rhema McKnight, Rich Musinski and Sonny Shackelford. Cottrell, Musinski and Elliott played in NFL Europa this spring. All others waived were undrafted rookie free agents.
Gross was in the midst of an impressive training camp when he suffered a knee injury in the Chargers’ Aug. 18 preseason win at St. Louis. He’ll undergo an operation to repair the knee.
The Chargers close out their preseason slate Thursday night when they host the San Francisco 49ers. Rosters must be reduced to 53 players by Saturday, Sept. 1. On Sunday, teams can form an eight-man practice squad from players who clear waivers. _________________

Hopefully Chambers will help get our recieving core going, cuz now its all Antonio Gates, and yes Turner was a mistake you dont fire a coach after steady building from a crappy team to a 14-2 team, we were getting beter and better and now we have lost more games in our first 4 of this season than in last yeasr entire season, thats a drop off _________________

That it is....Norv Turner's best bet is to surround himself w/ GOOD coaches......because he isn't one. _________________

I agree with you 100%!!! Schottenheimer was fired because A) he and the GM did not see eye to eye, and B) because he could not win playoff games.....problem with B, he and the Chargers won that game against the Pats. They had the lead, the Pats were trying a desperation attempt at a comeback, and Brady threw a pick, and the LBer who got the INT, instead of falling to the ground and giving his team the ball and the ability to run out the clock, with the best RB in the game, decided to try and be a hero and run the ball back. Only he is not a RB or a WR, who would know how to protect the ball, and he got stripped, and the Pats recovered the ball. The LBer lost the game. Schottenheimer's gameplan won the game. He beat the Pats and would have had the Colts in his house, and a shot at the SB. His idiot player stole that from him. I realize that you can say that this lack of discipline on the player's part is a reflection of the coach, however, I say that by the time you reach the pros a player should know what he should do in every situation. You are leading, you don't have a clear shot at the endzone, you are a long, long way from it, and you don't normally carry the ball.....and the other team is desperate and all they are going to try to do is strip it.....not tackle you, strip the ball from you, you drop to the ground. Stop, drop and roll. Player should have been cut, coach should have been kept.
I hope the GM is fired next, because he is an idiot. _________________

WHo saw the colts game? That was crazy? The best clutch kicker in the NFL misses a 29 yard attempt and the chargers escape with the W _________________
