If you're done shopping, what will you do on the 24th? _________________ Beryl, Siobhan, Deora, Moira, Muirne, Fiona, Maeve

| Haven't done anything for Christmas yet, I think it's going to whiz by before I notice that it's here. I love to do Christmas trees, but they sell for about $100 for the little cruddy ones here. I remember when my dad and I just went and got one for ourselves. $0 Christmas trees are the best. Haven't even figured out what to get hubby for his present. I had a plan, but my mother decided no gifts this year, so I can no longer afford what I had in mind. I'd like to do something special for hubby, but for him, special = costly. He's an expensive husband to keep. |

Larry.....I accidentally deleted a post of yours......(I must be tired)
It says that we'd discuss the subject previously discussed....(gift buying on the 24th.......after all were bought.......
I replied that I was sure I would be busy wrapping and cooking, at that time...... _________________

Shopping done....we are going light this year because of financial difficulties, but only on ourselves. Our kids are taken care of. For ourselves, my wife and I are exchanging DVDs that the kids asked for....that way the kids can give us stuff (they just don't realize that the DVDs are really for them).
The outside lights are going up in about 30 minutes. That should take me a few hours.....too many lights!!!
And the tree and train platform go up tonight, after I move the tv and entertainment center from our living room to our just finished (last night, finally) basement.....I say finished, but really, 1 wall has to be finished, but I ran out of money, and same for the suspended ceiling. But the laundry and heater portions of the basement has been segregated off with new walls, as has the electric box and water heater with walls around them, so now the kids have an area for toys and tv away from that other stuff which they can get hurt on. Next year the other wall (and insulation), and maybe in 3 years a ceiling and some heat.
But this is about Christmas, and as of tomorrow, we should be ready (even the cards got out in the mail yesterday). _________________

my cards are 2/3 of the way done....I ran out of paper.....(we print off a letter for the relatives that has the kids pictures on it and a short (yes really) update for those who have a hard time remembering the boys ages, grades....) anyway, I ran out of paper and there is a snowstorm outside....so I'm gonna have to wait to finish up....
Presents....hmmmmmm.....like you, Clarke, we are forced to "go light" this year.....but the stores in this area don't understand what "light" means......lol....EVERYTHING costs a small fortune.....lol
I start wrapping tonight....when I tear myself away from GW's..... :D
Tree is up, but i still need a few other decorations taken care of.... _________________

Have you tried Craigs List? Google Craigslist, and then click on the closest town to you. I found a 2 year old tv for real cheap (needed one for the basement now that its about finished), a 21 speed bike for my son for $40, which around here is really cheap, and a 6 foot long air hockey table, practically brand new for $50 (3 foot 2 inch ones at Walmart are $109). I am still trying to find remote control cars on Craigslist, but so far nothing worth buying. It really has saved me some serious cash, and the kids are too young to recognize used.....actually, the bike and air hockey table do not look used at all. _________________
