Collectors and Quartermasters
"Where do I trade in Monastery Credits?"
— random adventurer, Shing Jea Monastery
"What do I do with Battle Commendations?"
— random Sunspear, Kamadan
Collectors
Collectors conduct their trade both inside and outside towns, sometimes in unlikely and inhospitable places. For various reasons, collectors want large quantities of trophy items from enemies you slay in the wild, and they're willing to trade for them. Some offer a wide variety of powerful weapons and other useful items in exchange; others can provide high-quality armor. Even if you don't have an immediate need for a Collector's reward, you can usually still make a profit from it, either by selling it to another character or finding a merchant who'll buy it. A Collector's name is followed by the word [Collector].
Quest Reward Collectors
In Nightfall, you can receive special trophy items as quests rewards. You can turn in these trophy items to special Collectors; they can exchange them for items that aren't available from normal Collectors. Like other Collectors, these NPCs appear with the word [Collector] after their names.
The trophy items you can receive for completing quests vary depending on the province or realm where you started that quest.
In Istan, you can trade in Battle Commendations to Sunspear Quartermasters.
In Kourna, you can trade in Kournan Coins to Smugglers.
Some Vabbian quests reward you with Trade Contracts to Vabbi Trade Officials.
Adventurers in the Desolation can obtain Ancient Artifacts and trade them to Wandering Scribes.
In the Realm of Torment, you can trade in dark and mysterious Secrets to Secret Keepers.
Collectors on the Mission Map
Collectors can be found both inside and outside towns and outposts. In Nightfall, you can find a Collector outside a town or outpost by checking your Mission Map. (Press "U" to open or close it.) Each Collector on that map has a label showing what he or she collects.
Special Collectors who accept trophy items work the same way. For instance, if you want to trade in Battle Commendations, look for a Collector on your Mission Map with the name of that trophy item next to it.
Quartermasters
Factions introduced a new type of NPC: the Quartermaster. These traders are similar to the trophy item Collectors in Nightfall: they accept items you receive as quest rewards and trade them for useful equipment.
A Quartermaster NPC in Factions can be identified by the word [Quartermaster] after its name.
Early in the game, characters can earn Monastery Credits by completing low-level quests. You can take them to a Monastery Quartermaster in Shing Jea Monastery or Seitung Harbor.
Later in the game, characters can earn Imperial Commendations for completing higher-level quests. You can take them to an Imperial Quartermaster in Kaineng Center.
In Cavalon, a Luxon Quartermaster collects Luxon Totems.
In House zu Heltzer, a Kurzick Quartermaster collects Equipment Requisitions.
Event Rewards
Some special events include opportunities to acquire exotic quest items, which you can then trade to a Quartermaster, Collector, or similar NPC in exchange for a reward only available at that event.

Since I see questions about this so often...
Emote
From Guild Wars Wiki
Emotes are a special subset of chat commands which cause the player character to perform a social action, playing an associated animation and logging a description of that action into the chat window.
Emotes get their name from the verb "to emote", which means "to show or pretend emotion."
Some emotes have unique animations for different professions. The most striking example of this is the dance emote, which initiates a different type of dancing for each profession and gender. Using any of the Dervishs' Avatar skills adjust your profession/gender specific emotes as do many of the disguise in the game.
List of emotes
The following list presents the emotes, and the corresponding text that is displayed to chat.
/agree: [Character] agrees.
/attention: [Character] comes to attention!

Female and male characters of each profession have their own dance (the character's primary profession determines which).
/dance *: [Character] starts dancing synchronised with others.
/dancenew: [Character] starts Collectors Edition dancing.
If you do not have a GW-CE, the character will perform their default dance instead.
/doh: [Character] smacks his/her head. Doh!
/doubletake: [Character] does a double take.
/drums or /drum: [Character] plays the drums.

/shoo: [Character] shoos you away.
/sigh: [Character] sighs.

There is no emote chat message associated with this command, and most other emotes or any directional movement will cancel it.
/sorry: [Character] apologizes.
/stand: Your character stands from a sitting position.
There is no emote chat message associated with this command, and does nothing unless your character is sitting (see /sit).
Hitting the Escape key will also work for this function.
/taunt or /rude: [Character] taunts you.
/violin: [Character] plays the violin sadly.
/wave: [Character] waves.
/yawn: [Character] yawns.
/yes: [Character] says, “Yes.”
[edit] Advanced usage
Emotes may be synchronized with other players by appending an asterisk (*) to the emote command, such as "/dance *". Emotes that are synchronized in this way start on a five second interval rather than starting immediately. Thus, anyone who issues the emote command within that five second interval will start the emotes' animation at the same instant.
In certain situations, the game may require you to use an emote in order to fulfil a task or summon an avatar. Examples of this are:
Statues of the Gods (/kneel)
Glint’s shrine in Droknars’ Forge (/kneel)
Certain in-game events, such as the Halloween Event with the Mad King. (what he asks you to do /laugh, /roar, etc.)
To defeat Lumo the Mime during the Tihark Orchard mission.
To plant seeds in the quest Cash Crops (/kneel)
To water the plants in the quest Garden Chores (/kneel)
To shoo away the flamingos in the quest Flamingo-ing... going... gone. (/shoo)
To enter Dasha Vestibule. (/dance)
After performing the emote, you should see a reaction. Not all reactions are good, however. For example, when playing rock paper scissors with the Mad King, if you get the wrong hand gesture, your character will die. (Please note, though, that no emote causes death or NPCs to attack, and any deaths induced by the Mad King do not count towards your death count/Survival title track).
